The very first sketch of what the Pathfinder might look like, drawn immediately after I was told I'd be working on it.
Concept sketches for the Pathfinder's general shape.
Second set of options for the Pathfinder, focusing on the nacelle pylon design.
Final sketch before building the model. I iterated on the design in 3D once I had a better understanding of how the various proportions worked together.
The Pathfinder-class Long Range Science Vessel was the first starship I designed for Star Trek Online and the first Starfleet ship I modeled for the game. It was meant to be a 25th-Century iteration on the Intrepid class, and took some inspiration from early Voyager concepts by Rick Sternbach.
In 2021, I rebuilt the model to STO's current technical and visual standard in anticipation of our Mirror Universe story arc. This updated model also made its way into the third season of Star Trek: Picard, serving as a viewscreen graphic representing the U.S.S. Voyager, NCC-74656-B (an incredible honor), and as several members of the large Frontier Day fleet.
