Material cross-section. Star Trek Online uses a material system where every starship is unwrapped to the same UV template, meaning we build most detail into the geometry and map those parts to appropriate sections on the material template.

This ship, only seen in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Cause and Effect," was a kitbash of the U.S.S. Reliant studio model. Of course, when making the ship for Star Trek Online I did the same thing, starting with the fantastic Miranda class model built by Donny Versiga (https://www.artstation.com/artist/donnyversiga).

I modeled and unwrapped these new parts, as well as created the material this model uses.
